Next Chalo Baatein Karen program coming up in December

Rcoz’s 2nd Chalo Baatein Karen™ is a Powerful Success in Men’s Mental Health Awareness!

Date: 10/25/2024
Time: 12pm – 2pm
Location: TheraWin Health, 212-214 Homer Ave, Palo Alto, CA

Rcoz hosted its 2nd Chalo Baatein Karen™ (“Let’s just talk”) event in collaboration with TheraWin Health in Palo Alto, this time focusing on the unique mental health struggles faced by South Asian men. The turnout included courageous men ready to gain insight, learn, and openly share their issues.

The event kicked off with delicious food and icebreaker games and even a skit, creating a comfortable and welcoming environment for everyone. This set the stage for a powerful session led by Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Steve Bagga, who shared insights on his somatic approach to healing. He delved into the immense pressures South Asian men face in balancing cultural expectations and their own identities, often intensified by societal and patriarchal expectations.

Meera Bhadra, Professor of Psychology and expert in Marriage and Family Therapy, also provided valuable insights on how South Asian cultural norms can prevent men from expressing vulnerability, instead compelling them to internalize their struggles and uphold their roles as providers without appearing “weak.”

A lively Q&A followed, with participants eager to engage with both experts, making the event a meaningful success.

A heartfelt thank you to TheraWin Health for co-hosting this impactful event! Special appreciation goes to Shubham Gupta, Kotaro Ando, and, Naman Solanki for their invaluable support and dedication.

This free event is a step toward building awareness and acceptance for better mental health in the South Asian community. Those wishing to support Rcoz, please know that every donation will have a direct impact on our programs and initiatives. To donate, [click here] .
