SUMMARY:Rcoz's 1st Chalo Baatein Karen Event at Lake Elizabeth: A Resoundin
 g Success!
DESCRIPTION:\nDate: Sunday\, Sept 29\, 2024\nTime: 10 am - 11 am\nLocation:
  Lake Elizabeth\, 40000 Paseo Padre Pkwy\, Fremont\, CA\n\n\n\nOn a beauti
ful sunny morning at Lake Elizabeth\, the Rcoz team set up a picnic table
under a canopy of trees with a gurgling brook nearby. Hot coffee and cooki
es were laid out close to the trail\, which caught the attention of South
Asians enjoying their morning walks. What a perfect setting for the meanin
gful conversations that unfolded in our very first Chalo Baatein Karen Dis
cussion series!\n\n\n\nOur trusted advisor\, psychiatrist Dr. Seema Sehgal
\, answered a wide range of questions from attendees\, many of whom were e
ager to understand more about mental wellness within the South Asian cultu
ral context. The conversation touched on how cultural norms can make it di
fficult to talk about mental health or seek help.\n\n\n\nThis conversation
highlighted how much our community needs this space. It not only validate
s the work we are doing at Rcoz but also shows how deeply people want to g
et involved—whether as storytellers\, volunteers\, or simply by spreadin
g the word within their own circles.\n\n\n\nOne attendee shared how a prio
r Rcoz event gave her the courage to take a step in the right direction. S
ix months later\, she is ready to face all her demons\, and our hearts swe
lled with pride for our courageous warrior!\n\n\n\nThis event was a powerf
ul reminder of the power of conversations and open dialogue on mental heal
th awareness\, especially within the South Asian community. It was a wonde
rful feeling for the Rcoz team to see nearly 35 people leave with somethin
 g meaningful—whether it was new insights\, a sense of connection\, or si
mply that they are not alone.\n\n\n\nJoin Rcoz at our next event and be pa
rt of this journey toward breaking the stigma around mental health.\n\n\n\
nThis free event is a step toward building awareness and acceptance for be
tter mental health in the South Asian community. Those wishing to support
Rcoz\, please know that every donation will have a direct impact on our pr
ograms and initiatives. To donate\, click here\n\n\n\nFor inquiries\, plea
