The fight against mental illness and just bringing awareness to it is really important because it is not like an illness that other people can see generally. Sometimes there are symptoms but a lot of times someone who is struggling is not showing those emotions outwardly. It is something they are experiencing but they may present themselves like they are okay.

Over the years that evolved. She acknowledged that medication was not a cure all but because a lot of her illness came from biology the medication combined with therapy and seeking support from her family and friends was really helpful for her.
She explains how her partner was really a part of her support system from the very early stages of her recovery from a really severe state of depression. “He was pretty much aware from the very beginning,” she says. It was very nerve racking to open up about her depression and for him to see that part of her but she thinks when you are in love with someone or even the early stages before you fall in love with someone you have to kind of reference who you are.
