Stories & Conversations That Move South Asians to Seek Help Before It’s Too Late.

JULY MONTHLY SPOTLIGHT

Equipping High School Students to Support Themselves and Those They Love

"This workshop was extremely beneficial and highlighted things I had’nt recognized before regarding suicide prevention and overall mental health." — Maya, 2026 HSCM

Final (3)

Week Three of our 2026 High School Changemaker (HSCM) Program, and already these 24 students have amazed us with their dedication to learn, absorb and contribute.

We're talking about topics that still aren't openly discussed in many South Asian homes like mental health, stress, anxiety, and emotional well-being. Our goal is to give young people the words, confidence, and practical tools to become mental health advocates in their schools, families, and communities.

"I think this workshop was really good and super important because it taught us skills that can help us support people around us for the rest of our lives." — Smiti, 2026 HSCM

Last week Vijay Mehrotra led an engaging workshop on the art of storytelling. Through interactive exercises and thoughtful discussion, students discovered that sharing a story isn't just about words, it's about creating connection, building empathy, and helping others feel less alone.

The program culminates with a special Chalo Baatein Karen™ community conversation, presented by our 2026 Rcoz High School Changemakers. Together with Rcoz Advisors Dr. Seema Sehgal, Dr. Apurva Bhatt, and Dr. Hari Nair, we'll explore the pressures today's teens and families face, from academic stress and competition to the growing challenge of staying connected.
